CBT & mindfulness

Lasting change. A more peaceful way to live.

Thoughtful, compassionate therapy combining evidence-based CBT with mindfulness — helping you understand what keeps you stuck, heal with greater balance and build change that reaches beyond the therapy room.

CBT, deepened by mindfulness

Understand the pattern. Change your response. Find greater peace.

Meaningful therapy is both practical and deeply human. I offer an empathetic, collaborative space where CBT brings clarity and purposeful change, while mindfulness helps you meet difficult thoughts and feelings with awareness rather than automatic reaction. Together, they support a more balanced, holistic path towards lasting wellbeing.

01 / UNDERSTAND & CHANGE

Evidence-based CBT

CBT helps us understand the connections between your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and physical responses. We work together to identify the cycles keeping difficulties in place and develop practical ways to create meaningful change.

02 / AWARENESS & BALANCE

Mindfulness for lasting change

Mindfulness brings a gentler awareness to your inner experience. Woven into CBT, it can help you step back from unhelpful patterns, respond with greater choice and build a steadier relationship with yourself.

The philosophy behind my work

There is more to you than the thoughts in your mind.

Transcending Thought is an invitation to understand the mind and explore a different relationship with your thoughts — one with more awareness, presence and compassion.

Drawing on psychology, mindfulness and Eastern spirituality, it runs through my writing, teachings and self-development work. In therapy, CBT and mindfulness can be brought together in a way that reflects your needs; no spiritual beliefs are required.

About me

Hello, I’m Luke.

I’m Luke Draper, a CBT therapist. I bring together the structure of cognitive behavioural therapy and the grounding quality of mindfulness to offer therapy that is clear, compassionate and personally meaningful.

I work in NHS Talking Therapies and support people experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, PTSD and body dysmorphia. My approach looks beyond symptom relief alone: we make sense of the whole picture, create practical change and nurture the understanding and self-compassion that can support healing over time.

Alongside therapy, my Transcending Thought work explores presence and the possibility of stepping back from the thinking mind — ideas I share through my book, retreat and writing.

This website introduces my independent work. It is separate from NHS Talking Therapies.
